My friend & I were recommended this restaurant by a server on our brunch cruise one Sunday afternoon. We came in all boozed up, excited to stay out of the summer heat, & to snack on some good eats. The restaurant has a nice ambiance. It was lively, but not annoying so. It was well furnished, and smelled amazing. They were burning a candle at the host's desk. I wish I knew what scent it was. We were assigned a very nice young lady to be our server. My friend & I ordered birria nachos to share, with the condiments on the side. She ordered an alcoholic drink I don't remember & I had water. The seats were super comfortable. I was reclined back, fighting to stay awake. Our food came out quick, and it was delicious! The birria was flavorful & juicy. The customer service was lovely. Our server kept checking in on us making sure we were attended to. The only complaint I had was the restroom was not the cleanest, surprisingly. The stalls were very unkempt. There was a candle burning inside here as well and it smelled so good. I took a picture of it and was luckily able to find it at Target! I most definitely will be purchasing. All in all, I would come back here if I'm in the area. It was a good time.

We came in on a Sunday night, was a great place to watch the game. Thank you sage for the hospitality and awesome service.

Pattianna was such a great server! It was my first time here and I came with friends for a birthday dinner. She genuinely was the sweetest! She made the experience so memorable. She was so kind, attentive to our table, and constantly checked on us and made sure we were okay. If I were to come back in the future, I'd hope to have her help us again. It was such a great experience and she was a big part of that overall feeling.

I love the vibe at this place! The way the indoor and outdoor spaces are connected creates such a spacious, open atmosphere that's warm and perfect for social gatherings. They have some really good cocktails and appetizers that always hit the spot. As for the seafood, when it's fresh, it's great--but I've had a couple of visits where it wasn't as fresh as I'd hoped. That said, the overall quality of the other dishes and the awesome ambiance keeps me coming back!

RUN don't walk to get the food here . Everything was fantastic !! The spicy tuna on crispy rice was my favorite item but I tried multiple things from the menu and loved them all (the pizza with the hot honey deserves a mention)! Cocktails were refreshing , not too sweet at all! Love the decor here , it's thoughtful and feels upscale beachy ! Service was wonderful , we had no issues and can't wait to come back to try brunch !

after a long day on the boat, we were served by Jacquie who helped us move outside because we wanted to sit in the sun! the hostess told us there was no room, but our server SLAYED and saved the day. we ordered a SLEU of appetizers and all were 10/10. our group has been to this bar in plenty of times for late night vibes. however, this daytime sesh was supreme. we had the best time thanks to the food and our server. drinks were also supreme. if you are looking to stop somewhere, WHALER is the place to go. thank you Jacqui!!!!

I can for an event but we ordered some of the food on our own. Specifically, I really enjoyed their spicy tuna on crispy rice. It was excellent. The pizza was also good. The ambiance is a little sports bar-ish but has a nice patio also. Worth a try.

This place is awesome. Came in with my girlfriend and sat at the bar for Happy Hour. Legit Happy Hour with amazing food and drinks. Wow. Seriously I was shocked at the portions. Huge portions. Didn't even finish all three of our apps. But they were all amazing. CALAMARI. Pretty bomb not gonna lie. Perfect texture, with great breading and the Chipotle Aioli and Jalapenos on it. Super good. NACHOS. Very big dish. Great shredded beef and they don't skimp on the toppings. Loved it. Super hot too. COCONUT SHRIMP. Our favorite. So good. Crispy, perfect dipping sauce and amazing slaw that comes with it. Again very big portion! Drinks were also great. My girlfriend and I both got the Sangria. Not too sweet but just right. Service was also amazing. Love the ambiance and vibe here. Clean bar with plenty of seating.

The Whaler is the new happening spot of Newport, expect it to be busy at night! It's not as busy during the day but it's definitely a club atmosphere at night. My husband and I came for dinner and it was lit. We got sat outside and Joey was our server. He was absolutely amazing! Give that man a raise, he was so great the whole night, attentive with our food and drinks the entire night and kept his cool when it was crazy busy with drunk people. We ordered a pizza and drinks, 10/10 food and drinks. We had a great night and will be back another time!
